SALEM - A lifelong resident of Salem, Bob Feller was born on December 22, 1929, the only child of Pearl and Henry Feller. After graduating from Salem High School in 1949, Bob joined his father farming. Early in 1951 he joined the army and later that year, married Delores ‘Dorrie’ Toft. Bob returned to farming with his father in 1953 and moved to the Turner area in 1963 to expand their operation. He raised sheep, cherries, prunes, wheat and later, exclusively raised grass seed. Bob and Dorrie enjoyed their children and grandchildren and traveling with friends. Dorrie passed away in 2005 after 53 years of marriage. Bob enjoyed gardening and reading, always keeping current on world and local news and events. He was an avid car enthusiast his entire life and enjoyed telling stories to his friends and family.
Survivors include daughter, Kimberly Klein and her fiance Don Backer of Turner; son, Lance Feller and his wife Kelli of Stayton; grandson, David Feller of San Francisco and Nicholas Basl of Stayton; and great-grandchildren, Brittany and Brennen Basl of Stayton.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thur., Jan. 11 at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service with a gathering for family and friends immediately following. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
