OBITUARY: Edward H. Spitz Jr.
July 12, 1934 - July 20, 2005
TURNER - Edward H. Spitz Jr., a resident of Turner, died Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at his home in Turner. He was 70 years old.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Weddle Funeral Home, Stayton. Vault interment will follow in the Cloverdale Cemetery, Turner. Memorials in the memory of Mr. Spitz may be directed to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 51 Locust Avenue, Suite 201, New Canaan, CT, 06840.
Mr. Spitz was born July 12, 1934 in Foss, Okla. He was the son of Edward H. and Josephine (Edler) Spitz. He lived in the Foss area until 1942 when he moved with his family to the Burns Flat area. Later, in 1946 the family moved to the Stayton area. Mr. Spitz had attended schools in Stayton. He married Marian Rosno on January 15, 1955 in Stayton. He then began working as a meter reader for Pacific Power & Light. He and his family later moved to Corvallis where he continued working with PP&L. He later moved to Casper, Wyo., where he worked until he retired as an area supervisor in 1989. He and his wife traveled briefly after his retirement and later settled in the Turner area. He has continued to reside there since. Mrs. Spitz preceded him in his death in 2003.
Mr. Spitz greatly enjoyed gardening, bird watching, his Koi pond, traveling, camping, the Oregon coast, and fishing.
He is survived by, four children, Keith R. Spitz of Lafayette, Colo., Kimberlee K. Sutherland of Corvallis, Ore., Kelly J. Spitz of Casper, Wyo., and Karin L. Sanney of Benton City, Wash. Two brothers, Lavern Spitz of Cornelius, Ore., and Donald Spitz of Albany, Ore.; two sisters; Adella Adams, and Dorine Jackson, both of Stayton, Ore. 8 grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive. He was preceded in his death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
Weddle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
