OBITUARY: 
Morris Robert Hunsaker, 68, of Salem died Wednesday in Salem Hospital.
He was born in Portland, but grew up in Salem, graduating from Salem High School in 1944.
He served in the Army Air Corps in the Philippines before attending and graduating from Willamette University in 1951. He then joined the accounting firm of Harvey Michaelis, becoming a certified public accountant in 1956. He acquired the business in 1957 and continued the business until the time of his death.
He was a longtime volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America’s local council, which honored him with the Silver Beaver award in 1987. The award is the highest honor a council can give a volunteer.
His memberships included the East Salem Rotary, where he was named a Paul Harris Fellow, and the International Order of Odd Fellows.
His interests included reading and working on his Oregon Donation Land Claim farm. He was the descendant of several pioneer families who crossed the Oregon Trail in 1846 and 1847.
On June 22, 1952, he married Jean Shepherd in Salem.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Ronald of Salem and Brett of Vancouver, Wash.; daughter Diane of Santa Clara, Calif.; sister, Esther Himes of Portland; brother Howard of Roseburg; and one grandchild.
Memorial services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Salem First Congregational Church. Private vault interment will be in Cloverdale Cemetery, Turner, arrangements are by Barrick mortuary.
Contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America or the American Cancer Society.
