1870 OR CENSUS - Nancy Keene, age 33, b. Missouri, is enumerated with husband A. C., age 48, farmer, b. Tennessee, along with Theresa J., age 20, David M., age 16, Harvey S., age 14, Granville M., age 12, Jessy S., age 10, Frances M., age 8, Nancy, age 4, Andrew J.,, age 3, and Alfred C., age 1, all born in Oregon. 
1880 OR CENSUS - Nancy, age 44, b. Texas [sic], is enumerated with husband C. Alfred Keene, age 59, occupation farmer, b. Tennessee, along with David, age 26, occupation farm worker, S. Harry, age 25, occupation farm worker, M. Granville, age 23, occupation farm worker, M. Francis, age 18, Josephine, age 16, Joana, age 16, J. Nancy, age 14, William, age 12, C. Alfred, age 10, and Elmer E., age 9, all born in Oregon.

OBITUARY: 
On Wednesday morning, April 28, 1897, four miles west of Gervais, Mrs. Carter Keene, aged 61 years.
Deceased was numbered among the pioneers of Oregon, having been one of a party, that crossed the plains in 1844. She was a cousin of Mrs. W. L. Wade and an aunt of Dr. J. M. Keene, of this city.
The funeral will be held today, and interment will be in the Fairfield Cemetery.

Mrs. Nancy Keene, of Fairfield and widow of A. C. Keene, died at her home April 28, 1897. Her funeral took place from the Cumberland Presbyterian church at Fairfield, April 29, attended by a large concourse of relatives and friends, and was conducted by the pastor of the Cumberland Presbyterian church of Woodburn. She was a native of Texas, born March 22, 1836 and came with her parents to Oregon in December 1844. They spent one winter in Oregon City and then settled in Marion county. She was married to A. C. Keene, August 3, 1849, in her fourteenth year. She was the mother of thirteen children, ten of whom are still living. She had been a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church for over forty years. She was buried beside her husband in the Fairfield cemetery. She leaves a large family of children, and grandchildren, with many friends to mourn their loss to whom her name will forever be dear.
