Oregon, and Margaret, age 10, b. Oregon.

OBITUARY: 
Freeman Marthaler, 73, prominent Fairfield farmer, died Jun 7, 1964. He was born January 31, 1892, to Margaret and John Marthaler. A twin, he weighed three and a half pounds at birth and briefly was kept on the oven door in a shoebox. He farmed the Marthaler family estate with his father and nephews, and was an active member of the Fairfield Presbyterian Church and Fairfield Grange. He enjoyed baseball, dancing, playing the piano, and hs many friends and relatives.
Survivors include his twin, Edna Short, and sisters Nellie DuRette and Margaret Sego, as well as 14 nieces and nephews. A sister, Rita Mahon, predeceased him. Funeral services were held at Ringo Chapel in Woodburn followed by interment in the Fairfield Cemetery.

GERVAIS—Freeman J. Marthaler, 72-year- old farmer, of Fairfield, near here, died Sunday at a Eugene hospital. A bachelor, he resided all his life on the family farm established on a donation land claim by his grandfather, John Skaife.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Gervais and the Fairfield Grange. Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Edna M. Short, Newport; Mrs. Nellie J. Du Rette, Eugene; and Margaret Sego, Portland. Fourteen nephews and nieces also survive.; Services will be at 2 p.m. at the Ringo-Cornwell Funeral Chapel, Woodburn, with interment at the Fairfield Cemetery.
