OBITUARY:
Virgil Thomas Baxter, 72, 40-year Marion resident, Monday at his daughter’s home in Salem, where he had been living.
Baxter was born in Cleo Springs, Okla. and moved to Marion from Oklahoma in 1934. He was a retired mill worker.
Surviving are son Jimmy, Chula Vista, Calif.; daughters Mrs. Mary Jo Kramer, La Mirada, Calif., Mrs. Betty DeBoe and Miss Joyce Baxter, both Salem, Mrs. Maxine Lawrence, Turner, and Mrs. Evelyn Lacey, Albany; brother Scott, Ponca City, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Weddle mortuary, Stayton. Burial will be in Marion.
