Floyd L. Davidson
August 6, 1916 - March 9, 2003
TURNER - A lifetime area resident, Floyd was born Aug. 6, 1916 in Marion, Ore. The son of the late Eli and Margaret Webb Davidson, he attended school at Marion then during the depression era of the 1930’s started into his career in construction, grading, and earth moving. He married Dorothy Greene in Vancouver, Wash. on March 28, 1945. She survives at the family home in Marion. During WWII, he served in the U.S. Army, with the 47 Engineer Construction Battalion. Following his discharge in 1945, he lived in the Portland area until permanently moving back to the Turner-Marion area in 1949. During his working years, he continued to work in farming and earth moving construction, building several of the roads in this area, and doing earth work at Kah Nee Tah Resort. He was a member of the V.F.W. and attended the 47th Engineers’ yearly reunions. He was a longtime board member of the Marion Elementary School and Cascade High School. He loved working on his farm, with his cattle, tree planting, and was a very family-oriented husband and father.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Lynne M. Davidson of Salem; sons, Kevin (and wife Lois Rosen) Davidson and Brian C. Davidson, all of Salem; sister, Eleanor Leffler of Salem; and two grandchildren, David Rosen of San Mateo, Calif. and Slavey Tolev of St. Paul, Minn.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wed., March 12 at Weddle Funeral Home, Stayton. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Marion Friends Cemetery Association c/o PO Box 87 Marion, OR 97359.
