1930 OK CENSUS - David H. Garoutte, age 37, married at age 20, occupation miner, b. Texas, is enumerated with wife Nannie, age 36, married at age 19, b. Iowa, along with children Eugene, age 15, b. Missouri, Birdeen, age 13, b. Missouri, Joseph, age 9, b. Missouri, Alma L., age 3, b. Oklahoma, and Ella M., age 9 months, b. Oklahoma. Also enumerated with the family is Soloman W., identified as father [of David H.], age 76, widowed, occupation farm hand, b. Missouri.
MARION—Houston David Garoutte Sr., 80, of Rt. 1, Box 166, Turner, died Saturday at his home.
Born in Houston, Tex., he moved to Oklahoma in 1923 and came to Marion in 1944. He was a retired carpenter. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Jefferson. His wife, Nannie, died in 1970.
Survivors include sons Joseph of Salem, Huston D. Jr., West Stayton; daughters Mrs. Berdeen Yost of Dallas, Mrs. Alma Kelly, Salem, Mrs. Ella Cooper and Mrs. Nancy Reber, both of Marion; brothers Floyd, San Fernando, Calif., John, Del Mar, Calif.; sister Mrs. Mary Geyer, Los Angeles, Calif.; 21 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Stayton Assembly of God Church, Rev. William Mitchell officiating. Interment will be in Marion Cemetery.
