Also enumerated with the family is Sid Russell, identified as father [of Hal], age 75, widowed, occupation country road patrolman, b. Indiana.
Wilburn S. ‘Bill’ Russell
February 8, 1918 - January 16, 2001
Bill Russell, 82, of Salem died Tuesday.
He was born in Marion, lived at the Oregon Coast and in San Diego before moving to Salem 50 years ago. He worked in the logging, mill and building industries. He helped build the Detroit dam and South Salem High School and started a small wood product manufacturing company. His customers included Fred Meyer. He was a member of the Elks and enjoyed dancing, hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Teresa Russell-Falla, Toni and Christi Russell, all of Portland, Judy Jepsen of Oakland, Ore.; sons, Chuck and Kenny, both of Salem; former wife, Frances, whom he married in 1948; brothers, Gene of Sublimity, Eldon of Salem and Stan of Sheridan; and four grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Weddle Funeral Home in Stayton. Interment will be at Marion Friends Cemetery.
