Leona Pearl Tierce
Feb. 5, 1912-March 6, 1989
JEFFERSON—Leona Pearl Tierce, 77, died Monday in Albany.
She was born in Wagoner, Okla., and came to the Jefferson-Marion area in the late 1940s from California. She loved fishing, gardening and cooking, and she was a quiltmaker who enjoyed doing crafts. She married Henry Burdge in 1929 in Miami, Okla. He died in 1968. She married Eldrie Tierce in 1969 in Jefferson.
Survivors include her husband, Eldrie; sons, David Burdge and Monroe Burdge, both of Marion, Eugene Burdge of Sacramento, Calif., and Clifford Burdge of Billerica, Mass.; daughter Lottie Matthews Salem; stepson, Joe Tierce of McMinnville; stepdaughters, Ruth Johnson of Jefferson, Christine Knight of Eugene and Rena F. Rheinhart of Lake Oswego; brother, Emery Gatewood of Sacramento; and sisters, Frances Green and Ella Wood, both of Sacramento, and Maggie Green and Minnie Sherman both of Roseville Calif.
Visiting hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Fisher mortuary, Albany. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday in the mortuary, and private interment will be in Marion Friends Cemetery, Marion. Contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation in care of the mortuary.
