North Carolina.
1860 OR CENSUS - W. Brooks, age 41, occupation farmer, b. Ohio, is enumerated with J. Brooks, age 40, b. North Carolina, along with W. H., male, age 19, b. Illinois, U. J., female, age 15, b. Illinois, D. F., female, age 13, b. Illinois, J. B., male, age 10, b. Illinois, M., female, age 7, b. Oregon, and G., age 3, male, b. Oregon. Also enumerated is U. Arnold, age 37, female, b. North Carolina.
1870 OR CENSUS - W. W. Brooks, age 54, occupation farmer, b. Ohio, is enumerated with Josie Brooks, age 53, b. North Carolina, along with W. H. Brooks, age 28, occupation laborer, b. Illinois, Mary, age 17, b. Illinois, and George, age 13, b. Oregon. Also enumerated with the family is Eunice Arnold, age 47, b. North Carolina, and Al Raymond, age 6, b. Oregon [adopted is written after his name, but then crossed off]

“Brooks, W. W., File #1619. Testate. Died 27 Oct 1895. Will written 23 Jun 1891, he over 60 years. C. K. Brandenburg named Adm. 26 Dec 1895. T. L. Jones name executor in will, declined. Heirs: Ann E. Starr, dtr, 59, Medford, Jackson Co., OR; Frank Ferrier, grandson; William Ferrier, grandson; Susan Sears, granddtr; Clara Driscoll, granddtr [last 4 all of Jackson Co., OR]; Arthur Raymond, grandson, 31, Marion Co.; Bishop William Taylor or his living successor to be used in his African Mission Work; L. J. Brooks, widow”.
OBITUARY: 
BROOKS—At his home in the Waldo hills, Sunday, October 27, 1895, at 8 o’clock p.m., W.W. Brooks aged 79 years.
Deceased had been ailing about three weeks, and suffered not a little before passing away. He leaves a wife and one child, Mrs. Starr, of Medford, also his brother Absolom, who lives near deceased’s homestead, and a grandson, Arthur Raymond, on Fern Ridge.
Mr. Brooks was a member of the M.E. church and will be greatly missed as a prominent worker in that society. He was a liberal contributor for the cause of Christianity, and gave about $25,000 to assist the Taylor missionary work in Africa.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 1 o’clock, and the burial will take place east of Sublimity.
