In Marion, Sunday morning, February 6th, 1887, I. [J.] N. Holt, son of S.R. Holt, aged 18 years.
I. [J.] N. Holt was born July 20th, 1869. The young man had been failing for several months, but no one was aware that his end was so near. He died as one going to sleep, without a struggle or gasp. Only a few minutes before he passed away he was upon his feet. It is hard to state the real cause of his death, but he had consumption and some kidney trouble. The funeral took place at the church in Marion, Rev. E. N. Condit conducting the ceremonies. He was buried in the Hundsaker [Hunsaker] grave yard. Mr. Holt was a hard working, industrious and moral young man, and all the flower of his youth he was called home. The grief stricken parents have the sympathy of the entire community.
