Canada, along with John, age 25, farmer, William, age 20, Martha, age 18, Mary. age 16, Maggie, age 14, George, age 12, and Charles, age 9, all born in Canada. Also enumerated with the family is Mary Welch, identified as mother-in-law [of George], age 79, b. England
BIOGRAPHICAL: "George E. Given was age 56 and born in Ireland, in the 1880 Census of Marion Co. Both of his parents were born in Ireland. He and his family came to Oregon between 1871 and 1876 via Canada. He bought 320 acres in the Waldo Hills. Upon his death the farm was divided, son John Given receiving 80 acres.
Marion Co. OR Probate File #1731 for George Given indicates he died Aug. 21, 1897. His will was dated Mar. 30, 1895, and admitted to probate by his executor, John Given, on Aug. 25, 1897. Heirs were: Isabella Given, widow, age 65; John Given, son, age 42; W. T. Given, son, age 37; George E. Given, son age 28; Charles H. Given, son age 26; Eliza J. Morley, daughter, age 39 – all of Clymer, Marion Co., OR and Maggie F. Whitlock, age 31 of Silverton, Marion Co., OR".(Source- Hellei, Mader & Rickey, pg 115)
