OBITUARY: 
Death Claims Longtime Valley Resident – Aumsville – Mrs. Rebecca Jane Thomas McClellan, an Oregon resident nearly 60 years, died Monday afternoon while en route to a Salem hospital from her home in West Stayton. She was 88.
Mrs. McClellan was born January 14, 1862, in Indiana, where she was married October 10, 1885, to Thomas Yates McClellan, who died in 1940.
The couple moved to Oregon in 1892 and lived at Victor Point, Aumsville, and North Santiam before moving to West Stayton, where McClellan operated a general store and served many years as postmaster.
Surviving are seven children, Glenn McClellan, North Santiam; Tom McClellan, Neotsu; Paul McClellan, West Stayton. Mrs. Margaret Martin, Salem; Mrs. Emma Condit and Mrs. Ruth Hanson, both of Portland; and Mrs. Eva Neal, Silverton; 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
A grandson, the Rev. Robert Neal of Ft. Worth, Tex., is flying to Stayton where he will preach the funeral service Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Weddle funeral home. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery at Victor Point.
