OBITUARY: 
Andrew V. Etzel died Monday at his home in Salem. He was 70. Born February 14, 1916, in Hayes [sic] City, Kan., he came to the Silverton area in 1921. He was a retired meat cutter. He was a member of Silverton Elks Lodge, the American Association of Retired Person and the Santiam Golf Club.
He is survived by his wife Ruby of Salem; son Larry Etzel of Aurora; daughters Patricia Carnine of Salem and Judy Messman of Sherwood; brothers John Etzel and Hillary Etzel, both of Salem, and I.G. Etzel and Charles Etzel, both of Stayton; sister Josephine Houston of Seattle, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 1, at Unger Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Dr. Dale Moore will officiate at services. Ritualistic services will be conducted by the Silverton Elks Lodge.
The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Mt. Hope Cemetery or the Santiam Men’s Club in care of the family.
Casket bearers are John Novacek, John Masser, Bob Burns, Art Woelk, Gene Hoxsey, and Gene Parkins.
