OBITUARY:
Memorial services were Saturday for Frank H. Dederick, who died Friday at Silverton Hospital. He was 89.
Mr. Dederick was born April 20, 1891, in Lafayette County, Wis. He served the Washington State Game Department as a construction engineer for 20 years before moving to Silverton in 1951. He opened a small engine repair shop here, behind his Hobart Rd. home, as well as founding his own masonry business. He retired from his service shop two years ago.
In his spare time, Mr. Dederick took adult education classes, including several at Chemeketa Community College. He took accordion and organ lessons after he was 72 and built violins for other musicians. When he was past 85 he discovered a talent for art and began sketching and working with paints.
Survivors include his wife Ellen, sons Frank Dederick of Silverton and Charles Dederick of Silverton and Charles Dederick of Forks, Wash.; daughter Frances Howard of Redmond, Wash.; sister Dorothy Anderson of Las Vegas, Nev.; eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Family suggests memorial contributions to the Silverton Referral Center.
