OBITUARY:
E.A. Downing, Native of County, Passes Away – E.A. Downing, a native of Marion County, died at his home east of Stayton Thursday morning. He was born on the donation land claim of his father, John Downing in the Waldo Hills near Sublimity, in 1855, and lived all of his life in this county. He was a brother of A.L. Downing of this city, former county treasurer and a cousin of Robert E. Downing, also of this city. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon with services at the Christian church in Stayton and interment will be in the Warren Cemetery in Waldo Hills.
