OBITUARY:
Evelyn Town, 89, of Salem died Monday.
She was born in Rockford, Ill., and was credit manager of the Swedish-American Hospital in Rockford and of Children's Hospital Society of Los Angeles. She was a registrar of Harvey Mudd College in Claremont until retirement in 1970. She moved from Claremont, Calif., to Salem in 1980. She was a freelance writer for children's publications and is listed in Who's Who of Amrerican College and University Administrators. She ejoyed music and painting. Her husband, Leonard, whom she married in 1943, died in 1983.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Eichelberger of Salem; brother, John Oberg of Rockford; two grandchildren.
Private graveside services will be held.
