BIOGRAPHICAL: (From Mt. Hope Cemetery, pg 173} - Lena (Magdalena Bass) Kissling was born in 1837 in Ohio. John and Lena met when John was head of a colony in Ohio, married and moved to Oregon. Lena was John’s 4th wife and was said to have relatives in the Willard-Pratum area. Lena died in childbirth in December 1879, delivering a stillborn premature male infant who was buried with her. She was survived by John, Jr. and Jacob Paul. Family tradition says she was also survived by two sisters and her parents.
