OBITUARY:
STAYTON - Mary Knutson, 83, died Thursday at Marian Estates.
She was born near Yakima, Wash., the firstborn child of Ernest and Elsie Lafky. She grew up in the West Stayton area and graduated from Aumsville High School.
Mary married Odin K. Knutson on Dec. 8, 1945, and lived most of her life in Watford City, N.D. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her sister, June Lafky.
Mary had a great sense of humor and loved flowers, gardening, reading, sewing, and animals. She rode her three-wheel bicycle everywhere, always with a smile!
Survivors include her daughter, Dorothy Burdg of Salem; brother, James Lafky of Portland; niece, Sue; nephews, Carl and Ernie; and by her faithful friends in the Stayton area.
Memorial services will be noon Tuesday, April 16 at Church of Christ in Stayton. Arrangements are by Weddle Funeral Home in Stayton. Contributions may be made to Stayton Church of Christ, designated to either the summer youth mission trip or the Romania mission trip.
