OBITUARY:
Mark Gilbert, 19, of Salem, died Sunday in an auto accident.
He was born in Albany and moved to Aumsville when he was 4. He attended Aumsville Elementary and Cascade junior and senior high schools. He moved to Newport when he was 15. He served in the Army National Guard and worked on the Gilbert family farm in the summers.
Survivors include his fiance, Jennifer Eickhorst of Salem; parents, Cheryl and Adam Nesbitt of Aumsville and Joseph and Kathleen Gilbert of Portland; grandparents, David and Laverne Ratzlaff of Salem; sisters, Jerrica Ratzlaff-Gilbert of Newport, Tasha and Stephanie Gilbert, both of Aumsville; brothers, Devin and Vincent, both of Portland; grandparents, Ernest and Shirley Lehto of Brownsville, Richard and Marcella Gilbert of Turner; and great-grandparents, Kenneth and Elsie Betterly of Newberry, Mich.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Weddle Funeral Home in Stayton. Interment will be private.
